Disclaimer: My sincerest apologies for the incongruous ads which have recently begun to appear at the bottom of some posts on this blog. This is not my doing and I am not profiting in any way from this development.
Those who are familiar with the site would know that it was intended to be an ad-free zone. I wanted you to have the assurance that I would not ever profit from content derived from the pain and suffering of others. This is why I had included the “ad-free blog logo” at the bottom of the sidebar on the left.
When selecting this platform, I had been unaware that WordPress eventually imposes ads on their blogs. In response to my questioning this imposition, I was told that part of the way in which WordPress is able to offer as many free features is by running ads to a small percentage of readers. Public service blogs can fall into this small percentage and must therefore be treated to the ads. I was then given the option of purchasing a No Ads upgrade at an annual cost of US$29. 97 to make the ads go away. Since I need a “free” platform, I have decided to ignore the ads until I am in a position to solve this problem and I sincerely hope that you are more tolerant of this situation than I am.
While I am extremely grateful to WordPress for its wonderfully managed, almost “free” service, I hope that they will give special consideration to not for profit, not for vanity and not for entertainment, public service blogs and avoid placing ads there. Perhaps they will also eventually adopt Blogger’s new ad-free (unless bloggers want them) policy so that the nuisance of having ads appearing where they are neither appropriate nor wanted will disappear.
Peace
