Name: Ramphal “Paul” Khandan
Age: 48
Address: Bank Village, Carapichaima, Trinidad and Tobago
Details: Ramphal Khandan left home at about 6.30 p.m. on Sunday 28 September, 2008. His wife recalled calling his cellphone at 8.45 p.m. and being told by her husband that he was waiting for two women and a man who he had been hired to transport. Perhaps it was a premonition but his wife asked him to cancel the job and come home. “I’ll be home soon” were among the last words that he said during this conversation. As the hours passed and her husband did not return, his wife again called him at about 10.15 p.m. According to his wife, he seemed unwilling to talk but promised that he was on his way and would explain everything upon his return. She never heard from him again. Calls to his cellphone after that, went straight to voice mail. That night his distressed wife made a report to the police.
Sadly, around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday 2 October, 2008, Ramphal Khandan’s body was found in some bushes in a lonely area off Rajkumar Trace in Freeport. The police had received a tip-off and made the discovery. There were gunshot wounds on the body and the police believed that Ramphal had been hijacked, robbed of his white Nissan B13 car and killed.
